Great novel with nice twists and turns
I bought this as I found out that it was the book upon which one of my favourite French films is based. "Betty Fisher et d'autres histoires" is a great film, mainly because of the plot. The film faithfully follows the book and the twists in the book make it well worth a read. Good characterisation and great writing. This is my first Ruth Rendell: it may not be my last based on this novel.
It's about a female author whose son dies and what happens as a consequence - without giving too much away!
