Quetzalpetlatl is a Toltec princess whose life is turned upside-down when her father becomes the victim of a sinister plot after her brother is born to succeed him. Her life also becomes entwined with the feathered serpent god, Quetzalcoatl, with magical powers involved. This long novel deals with the political machinations in the various city-states of Mesoamerican Mexico as Quetzalpetlatl fights for women's rights in a male-dominated world while also serving her chosen god who has granted her the power to support his worship.
Quite engaging but also long, this novel is well-researched and worth a look. Although technically perhaps a fantasy novel, this is only a small part of this historical piece.
