An actress goes missing in mid-sixties London
Iolanthe Green, an American actress, goes missing from her theatre production and Anna Treadway, her dresser, tries to find her. Along the way, a number of interesting characters join in the search: a police officer, a West Indian accountant, a Turkish Cypriot family.
All these characters are developed well and constitute an important part of this novel which also involves police brutality, illegal abortions, a bunch of misleading information. Ultimately the mystery is not important as each character moves on with their lives.
I enjoyed this mystery novel as the characters engage the reader and the plot develops slowly but well.
